ARDA And CITAC Congratulate Sentuo Oil Refinery Ltd On Achieving Full Operational License In Ghana

The African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA) and CITAC, a specialist consulting group in Africa's downstream energy industry, extend their heartfelt congratulations to Sentuo Oil Refinery Ltd. A member of the African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA) for receiving the full operational license to function as an oil refinery in Ghana.
This commendation was made during a courtesy visit by representatives from ARDA and CITAC to the Executive Chairman of the Sentuo Group, Mr. Xu Ningquan, at the Sentuo Oil Refinery in Tema on Friday, July 19.
Mr. Xu Ningquan, Executive Chairman of the Sentuo Group, emphasized the requirement for Africa to achieve energy self-reliance and take ownership of its economy by reducing the export of crude oil and importing finished products. He stressed that Africa must develop its refining capabilities to add value to its crude resources. In line with this vision, the SentuoGroup is investing $980 million in a 2 million metric ton per annum capacity oil refinery in Tema, with plans for a second phase to increase the capacity by an additional 3 million metric tons per annum, demonstrating their commitment to creating value in Africa.
In response, Mr. Anibor Kragha, Executive Secretary of ARDA, thanked Mr. Xu Ningquanfor his unwavering commitment to developing local refining capabilities in Africa. He lauded the bold steps taken by the Sentuo Group in investing in the Sentuo Oil Refinery, a move poised to significantly boost Africa’s energy sector.
Mr. Kragha further emphasized that the main objective of ARDA is to create an enabling environment for African oil refiners to thrive and attract investment into the industry. This goal is supported by CITAC, which provides a wealth of data and analytics about the African downstream energy industry.
This visit was facilitated by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) as part of the activities of the just ended Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GHIPCON 2024). The NPAreiterated their commitment to supporting the Sentuo Oil Refinery Ltd. to ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with all safety and quality standards and requirements. This collaboration will help sustain the integrity and reliability of the refinery's operations, fostering a safe and sustainable environment for all stakeholders involved.
