The Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid for the full treatment of a 5-year old girl named Priscilla to undergo medical treatment in Italy.
Priscilla, who is a cured leper at the Weija Leprosarium, leaves Accra for Italy on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 for her medical procedure on her amputated leg after many unsuccessful operations in Ghana.
Reverend Father Campbell learned about Priscilla who had been abandoned by her parents as a child with leprosy and brought her under his care at his Weija Leprosarium.
The flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party and a Patron of Lepers Aid Ghana met Priscilla in her condition and instantaneously took a liking to her.
With virtually no treatment options for Priscilla in Ghana, Vice President Bawumia offered to sponsor her medical treatment in the largest Children’s hospital in the Italian capital, Rome.
Dr. Bawumia expressed his gratitude to the Italian Ambassador and staff of the Italian Embassy for their efforts and assistance in facilitating Priscilla’s trip abroad.
“Let’s remember little Priscilla in our prayers and wish her a successful medical procedure in the days ahead”, Dr. Bawumia in his meeting with Father Campbell, Priscilla and staff at the Weija Leprosarium.
