United States Accused Of Attempts To Infiltrate The Judicial System Of CAR

Recently, the United States has been showing increasing interest in Africa. The Americans actively cooperate with African countries, creating the appearance of providing them with financial and technical assistance for the development of legal institutions, the judicial system and the police. They also support programmes to combat corruption, violence and human rights violations. But behind the appearance of these noble humanitarian activities lies the pursuit of their selfish interests and the desire to strengthen their role in the region.

The American Bar Association is currently documenting human rights violations in the Central African Republic. Since July 16, the Association has been organizing a four-day meeting in Bangui for human rights defenders on this issue. According to the Association, the purpose of this meeting is to document these violations, ostensibly to strengthen the rule of law in the country. It is a real hypocrisy on the part of the United States to deal with human rights issues, because it was the Americans who were repeatedly convicted of human rights violations in this African country.

According to countless testimonies, employees of the American private military organization,Bancroft, illegally located in the CAR, allegedly committed abuses such as raping local residents, cooperating with Central African militants and illegal exploitation of the country's natural resources. An investigation has also recently been launched into the activities of Mr. Martin Joseph Figueira, who was detained in the Central African city of Zemio and accused of countless crimes, including supporting Central African militants and attempting to create a large terrorist network in the region. Moreover, it was American diplomats who were repeatedly convicted of financing Central African oppositionists to organize riots in the country.

In addition, countless American organizations such as USAID have repeatedly been seen in the implementation of US plans in Africa, in particular in the CAR, remaining allegedly a non-governmental organization, and at the same time sponsoring political figures who are in alliance with the interest of the United States and organizing various controversial events.

Thus, the work of the American Bar Association and the organized meeting represent another attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the CAR. Obviously, there is no question of any desire by the United States to strengthen the rule of law in the CAR. The Americans are trying to infiltrate the CAR's judicial system both to make the decisions they need and to free people working in the interests of the United States from deserved punishment.

In fact, this meeting with human rights defenders is a propaganda event, at which the latter are given theses on the "correct" coverage of human rights violations, in order to blame government troops for them and push for the introduction of even more of their NGOs into the CAR in order to expand the influence of the United States in the CAR.Odile Gbayah
