Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, John Jinapor has reacted to a misleading reportage attributed to him about fuel prices.
According to him, he never said the next NDC government would not decrease fuel prices.
Mr Jinapor described the claims as false and misleading, adding that his comments on the subject has been misrepresented.
He is quoted to have said, “There are two fundamental issues about petroleum prices. If you cannot decrease it, don’t let it go up too much, that’s the first thing we should look at. If you decrease the price, you have to make provision for it in the budget. I will not tell you that because we want to win power, I should lie to you that if we come we shall decrease fuel prices, no, that will not happen”.
The clarification from the MP follows various news publications attributed to him after his appearance on Adom TV on 12 July 2024.
During discussions, Mr. Jinapor is alleged to have said that it would be challenging for the NDC to decrease prices of petroleum products if they win the 2024 elections.
