Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) appears to be unenthused about the Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s ticket as the flag bearer and running mate of the NPP.
According to the stalwart of the NPP, the party cannot win the election genuinely with the ticket of Dr. Bawumia and his running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
Dr. Tamakloe said, "that ticket I personally don't believe can win a genuine election in this country”.
He maintains that Dr Bawumia did not have a hand in the selection process of his running mate, insisting that the decision to have NAPO join Dr. Bawumia will further stifle the synergy of the party.
Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe said, "And as I predicted earlier, that there is no way Bawumia will have a free hand to pick his running mate? Never. I said it earlier, I have the tape. [I said] his running mate we pick for him. And that's exactly what happened."
"Why should Bawumia not be allowed to pick his own running mate? Whether he will gel with his running mate that is his palava."
As the NPP seeks to 'break the eight', it appears that there are a lot of reconciliation works that ought to be done within the rank and file of the party.
He said this in an interview with Joy FM.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe is rather of a divergent view that the party is capable of winning the December 2024 elections genuinely.
"Certain mistakes are made and they are challenging to correct. So that mistake made by NAPO, look at the reaction as a result of his statement that has sort of degenerated almost everywhere, even outside the country. Nigerians are even talking about it."
He urged the Electoral Commission (EC) not to engage in any act that will undermine the peace of the country.
He said, “any tricks they will play to alter the results will lead this country into a serious disaster.”Kobina Darlington/
