Alleged Recruitment Were Only Engaging Persons Who Have Already Bought Forms Henry Quartey Clarifies

Henry Quartey, the Minister for Interior has emphasised that, his outfit has not started recruitment processes for persons who want to join any of the security agencies.

He revealed that, the Ministry of Interior, through the various security agencies are currently engaging applicants who have already bought the forms in order to ascertain their eligibility.

The Minister for Interior, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central, debunked allegations made by the minority that there is a secret recruitment being organised by some security agencies.

According to the sector minister, the Ministry for Interior does not do recruitment adding that, it is the security and intelligence agencies themselves that conduct the recruitment processes.

There has been a call by the minority to summon the Interior minister to answer questions regarding the allegations, however, in an address to the press on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Mr. Quartey said, “are we saying that we persist to advertise and sell forms to the youth of this country knowing that the number of people that will be eligible may not even be 2,000 and we persist to sell forms to them?

“This is why we are saying that let us give the chance to those who have these forms so that they can go through the process as Ghanaians, if they are able to meet the eligibility criteria then they are recruited.”

He reiterated, “So our position is to say clearly that we have not started recruitment. I have heard a lot of things out there but for the record, the Ministry of the Interior does not do recruitment, we are policy drivers."

“It is the security and intelligence agencies that do the recruitment and they have criteria for people to meet and the number of people they need, then the Ministry of Finance will give the approval. Once that approval is given they go through the process and then they engage.”
