In a significant political move, Nana Kwame Bediako, the leader of The New Force Movement, has announced his intention to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming December 7 presidential elections.
This follows a series of significant obstacles faced by his party in registering with the Electoral Commission (EC).
During a press conference at Kwarlez Residence, Mr. Bediako meticulously outlined the countless obstacles The New Force Movement encountered during the registration process. Despite submitting all the requisite forms and documents on September 12, 2023, the party was granted only a provisional certificate after an excruciating wait of eight months. This protracted delay, Bediako asserted, critically impaired their ability to campaign effectively within the mandated timeframe.
Nana Kwame Bediako expressed deep frustration with the EC's bureaucratic actions, emphasizing that the delay rendered it impossible for The New Force Movement to achieve full party registration in time to mount a viable campaign.
He lamented the systemic inefficiencies and lack of responsiveness from the EC, which he believes are symptomatic of broader issues within the electoral system. These impediments, he argued, not only stifled his party's efforts but also undermined the democratic process.
In a stirring address, Bediako elucidated his reasons for pursuing an independent candidacy. He stressed that his decision is rooted in an unwavering commitment to Ghana’s development, unencumbered by bureaucratic hurdles. By running independently, Bediako aims to champion a vision for the nation that is dynamic, inclusive, and free from the traditional constraints that have long hampered political progress.
The press conference also served as a platform for Bediako to unveil his ambitious vision for Ghana’s future.
Central to his campaign is the promotion of democracy, ambition, and entrepreneurship among Ghanaians. He outlined a thorough plan focused on economic freedom, equity, equality, and empowerment. Bediako pledged to foster an environment where all citizens can thrive, irrespective of their background or socio-economic status.
Bediako's campaign is characterized by a revolutionary zeal aimed at creating a prosperous future. He envisions a Ghana where entrenched interests and bureaucratic delays are overcome, allowing for the full realization of the nation's vast potential. His campaign message resonates with calls for significant alter and the unleashing of Ghana’s resources and talent to build a brighter future.
In a move that underscores his innovative approach to politics, Bediako launched a new campaign initiative called "The New Six." This initiative includes the symbolic unveiling of a mask on his billboard, which will be revealed incrementally, one step at a time. This tactic is designed to engage the public and build anticipation, reflecting Bediako's belief in a transformative and participatory political process.
Bediako's candidacy represents a bold departure from traditional political paradigms. His vision for Ghana is both ambitious and transformative, seeking to break away from the status quo and usher in a new era of governance. He emphasized that his campaign is not just about winning an election but about igniting a revolution for economic and social progress.Portia Mensah Bonsu/Peace FM Newsroom
