Abu Jinapor and Herbert Krapa Take Over Energy Ministry   Akufo Addo Announces

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, and the newly vetted Minister of State at the Energy Ministry, Herbert Krapa to intercommunicate close with the outgoing Minister for Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to ensure a smooth transition at the ministry.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) turned in his resignation letter to President Akufo-Addo following his nomination as the running mate for the flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

President Akufo-Addo asked Samuel Abu Jinapor to exercise Cabinet oversight responsibility at the Ministry of Energy while Mr. Herbert Krapa will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Ministry.

The Manhyia South legislator’s decision to resign from the Ministry of Energy takes effect from the 18th of July. This is to afford him more time to focus on his campaign as he tours various parts of the country in support of Bawumia’s campaign.

President Akufo-Addo expressed his deepest gratitude to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, acknowledging his dedicated service to the government and the people of Ghana in the various ministries he served as cabinet minister.

A statement issued by the Director of Communications at the presidency, Eugene Arhin said, “His tenure as Minister for Education and as Minister for Energy has been marked by a stellar record of accomplishments and significant contributions to the education and energy sectors.”

“President Akufo-Addo has asked the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Abu Jinapor, MP for Damongo, to exercise Cabinet oversight responsibility over the Ministry of Energy. Additionally, the Minister-of-State-designate at the Ministry of Energy, Herbert Krapa, will be responsible for the day-to- day administration of the Ministry. The President has asked the two persons to liaise closely with Dr. Opoku Prempeh to ensure a smooth transition in the affairs of the Ministry."
