The Head of Communications of the Bawumia campaign team, Dennis Miracles has highlighted what informed the decision by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to choose Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Energy Minister, as his Running Mate.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh was unanimously approved by the National Council of the New Patriotic Party on Thursday, July 4, and will be presented to the Overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Tuesday, July 8.
Sammi Awuku, a key advisor of the campaign team, revealed; “Next week, Tuesday, July 8, 2024, the NPP will perform two duties. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is a native of the Ashanti Region, so we will present him to the Asanteman Council and Otumfuo Osei Tutu in Kumasi on Tuesday afternoon next week. Then, we will proceed to outdoor him at Jubilee Park in Kumasi.”
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Dennis Miracles noted that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is a good choice for the Running Mate position, stressing his work ethics, experiences and achievements at both the Education and Energy Ministries formed the basis for his appointment as Running Mate.
He recounted how Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh initiated moves that transformed Ghana's education system during his term as Minister of the sector and his feat at the energy sector.
"You realize that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh received the least labour unrest during his time as a Minister of Education than all the other previous Ministers", he said.
"There is no doubt, absolute no doubt about his competence. Among all the criticisms about NAPO, have you heard even one person raise concern about his competencies and his ability to deliver as well as his experience?", he questioned NAPO's critics.
