NAPO Arrogant Then Organize an Emergency Congress to Replace Mahama Nana B Tells NDC

The National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly called Nana B has called on the largest opposition National Democratic Congress to organize an emergency congress to elect a new flagbearer.

He said the former President showed gross disrespect to Ghanaians when he was President.

According to Nana B, the comments being made about the newly endorsed running mate for the NPP, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, that he is arrogant must be disregarded and treated with disdain because the assertions are not factual and does not represent the person of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

The National Organiser argued that, the boldness, confidence and competence of the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and Minister for Energy, may be misconstrued by the general public, especially members of the opposition party.

Nana B added that, every human being has weaknesses, thus, making them vulnerable to societal pressures, however, he added that, the assertion being made that the running mate is arrogant is a misguided statement by the opposition party.

In an interview on Peace FM's Midday News on Friday, July 5, 2024, Nana B said, “I keep saying that, Napo’s boldness, assertiveness and confidence may be misconstrued as arrogance. No, he is just confident and bold. He has excellent work ethics. His work ethics make him one of the best Education Minsters Ghana has ever had."

“The NDC can never question NAPO’s competence. They can never question that he is not presentable. The only thing they can say about him is he is an arrogant man when they don’t get to agree with him on certain statements he makes. If that is what the NDC will base their judgment on, then they have to organise an emergency congress to select another flag bearer because, former President John Mahama has insulted more Ghanaians than any other leader in the history of Ghana’s politics."

Nana B’s statement comes on the heels of a comment made by the Deputy Communications Director for the NDC, Arko Gunn, who stated that, the newly endorsed running mate is arrogant and will pose a test for the NPP in terms of marketing their candidate.

In contrast to the NDC’s assertion, Nana B posits that, the comment from the NDC is unwarranted.

Outlining the competences of the running mate, Nana B stated that, the opportunities NAPO brings to the table as far as the December elections is concerned is enormous.

Nana B avers that, the sterling leadership qualities possessed by NAPO will play a great role of assistance to the flag bearer, both of whom, have very good working relationship which goes beyond the boundaries of politics.

“His sterling leadership style led to the implementation of the free SHS which saw an unprecedented turn up of students enrolling on the educational programme. He also handled the Energy sector with excellence and precision. This is the leadership NAPO brings to the table. Both running mates have been Education Ministers before but the laurels chalked by NAPO outnumber that of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang,” Nana B said.
