NRSA to Engage DVLA to Organize Training for Drivers to Curb Road Accidents Ag Director General NRSA

Acting Director General of National Road Safety Authority(NRSA), Ing. David Osafo Adonten has stated that they are planning to engage the Driver and Vehicle License Authority (DVLA) to organize compulsory training for drivers.

The training by the National Road Safety Authority and the Driver and Vehicle License Authority will curb down the number of road accidents on our roads.

Ing. David Osafo Adonten in an interview with Peace FM News at a launch of the book "Right Turn: obstacles, Opportunities and an Urgent Call to Road Safety in Ghana" said each and every driver being it private and commercial driver must go through serious training to have enough information about road safety related issues.

According to him, there has been an increase in accident cases this year compared to last year and all these accidents were caused by overtaking and speeding on our roads and many human factors.

He called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare to deploy more police officers to some check points on our roads because most of the drivers on our roads don't adhere to some measures from the Authority and provide police officers an end to countless accidents on our roads.

The Author of the book, Dr. Paulina Agyekum also spoke about the purpose of the book and how it is going to help drivers and students, saying the book is designed to create awareness about the safety nature on our roads and to educate the public on the damages accounting to road accidents in the country.Prince Baffour Asamoah/Peace FM Newsroom
