In a letter signed by the deputy Director for Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Department of the Commission, Mr. Fred Tetteh, it stated that, though there was an error with the earlier publication of figures, the commission has corrected the anomalies.
According to the letter dated May 12, 2024 and issued by the commission, there has been a consistent increasing in the number of first time voters who have come to have their names captured in the electoral commission’s data system.
The commission indicated in an infograph that, on the second day of registration, a total of Nineteen thousand, two hundred and sixty-seven (19,267) persons had registered across the country. This figure increased to forty-eight thousand, six hundred and sixteen (48,616) and fifty-eight thousand, six hundred and fourteen (58,614) recorded for days three and four respectively.
Ashanti region has so far, recorded the highest turn up of Twenty-five thousand, five hundred and fifty-eight new registrants followed by the Greater Accra region with seventeen thousand, eight hundred and thirty-seven new entrants.
The Savannah region has the lowest record as at day four (4) with a total number of Two thousand, nine hundred and eighty-nine (2,989).
The commission is hopeful of recording higher figures in the coming days as they work assiduously to address the myriad of obstacles that confronts the registration exercise.
