Chiefs At Abolabo Call On Police To Arrest Notorious Galamsey Operator Terrorizing Their Community

The Chiefs and people of Abolabo Community in the Nzema East Municipality have warned against brutal attacks by a notorious galamsey operator in the area called Nana Amponsah who is widely referred to as Okobeng.
This galamseyer, according to Western Regional correspondent, Charles Egyir, attacked the community in the organization of about 65 macho men wielding guns.
They terrorized the community by firing gunshots and violently attacked some youth of the community.
Two people sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby health facility for medical treatment.
Okobeng and his gang are said to have absconded before Police arrived on the scene; there is a search for them but none of the suspects have been arrested yet.
According to Charles Egyir, the Police claim they are still looking for the suspects.
Okobeng is also said to have threatened the correspondent not to dare report the story.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs and residents have also threatened to take the law into their own hands should Okobeng and his thugs attack them again.
The community is however calling on the Police to apprehend the suspects and let them face the full rigors of the law.Charles Egyir/ Western Regional Correspondent
