Bawumias Running Mate Why These Names Might Be Disappointed

The list of names for possible running mates for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia keeps getting taller as pressure mounts on the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to make public his choice.
Names considered to be frontrunners so far include Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Manhyia South lawmaker and Energy Minister, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff, Yaw Osei Adutwum, Education Minister, Henry Kwabena Kokofu, former Chief Executive of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Others are: Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Member of Parliament for Bekwai, Joseph Osei Owusu and Irene Naa Torshie Addo-Lartey, Administrator of the Districts Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
However, it seems some of these names might be disappointed.
John Boadu, now the Director-General of the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA), speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, says per the tradition of the NPP, frontrunners don't get to be running mates.
"These names are not significant. In the New Patriotic Party (NPP), there hasn't been any occasion where forerunners get to be running mates because you'd have to go through a process. The Presidential candidate can have his choice but if it's not approved by the National Council, he'd have to bring a different person. We've seen that over and over again..." he indicated and went further to give examples.
